Lena Blythe Andrew passed away in Monterey, California at the age of 97. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and lived with her two daughters for the past 7 years. She and her husband, Haydn Andrew had moved to Modesto soon after their marriage in 1933, where they raised their family. Blythe was a bookkeeper for her husband who owned a paint store and was a painting contractor. Later, she worked for the Teamsters Union also as a bookkeeper. She and her husband served labor missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in New Zealand, the South Pacific Islands, Europe and the western United States from 1957 to 1978, overseeing the building of churches and temples. Blythe loved her family and was a great blessing to them. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1992. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Carol Jean and Dennis Barrett of San Juan Bautista and Mary Jane and Stanley Robbins of Pacific Grove. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Dec.5, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7999 Miller Ave. in Gilroy, CA. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the church. Interment will be on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson, CA.
