Leon G. “Duke” Duplissie passed away March 8, 2004 in San Juan Bautista. He was 80.

Duke was born January 7, 1924 in Keene, New Hampshire to Bertha and John Duplissie. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; children Nancy Romero of Gilroy and Paul Duplissie of Emmett, Idaho; grandchildren Bryan Romero and Mark Duplissie; great-grandchildren Shelby and Amber Duplissie; and many nieces and nephews in Gilroy and New Hampshire.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Paul, Norman and Clarence who lived in New Hampshire.

Duke joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Watsonville where he met his first wife Nelda Bariola and were married in 1944.

He was self-employed running Dukes Refrigeration for many years and also worked with the Gilroy Ambulance Service. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, John A. Berri Post.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 15, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
