died Monday, July 28, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital at the age of
79.

After a lengthy illness, Hollister resident Leonor A. Garcia died Monday, July 28, at Hazel Hawkins Hospital at the age of 79.

Originally from Faial, Azore Islands, Garcia moved to San Benito County in 1972 with her family. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a housekeeper for 19 years with the Hollister Convalescent Hospital.

Garcia was preceded in death by husband Jose Garcia and brother George DaRosa Martins. She is survived by children Maria Alice Avila of Hollister, Leonor Rodrigues of Ontario, Canada, Branca Brum of Hollister, Joseph A. Garcia of Hollister and Luis F. Garcia of Vallejo, Calif.; and siblings Jose Rogerio Martins and Maria Alexandrina Gonzalves, both of Azore Islands. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five nieces and six nephews.

Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon, July 30, at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy rosary will be Wednesday, July 30, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 9:30 a.m. proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
