Leroy Joseph Duddy died peacefully at his home on Saturday November 21, 2009. He is survived by his wife Maria Dalia Bailon of 54 years, his daughters Adrianne Lee & George Sardonis (San Francisco), Denise Marie & Neill O’Laughlin (Hollister), his two loving grandchildren Morgan Mae and Kellen Patrick O’Laughlin, his sister Beverly Marie(Duddy) & Nello Tonegato (South San Francisco) and his brother-in-law Reynaldo Bailon , many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Mae (Moresco) and Edward Duddy and his nephew and godson Steve Tonegato.

Leroy was born in San Francisco on June 29, 1932. He grew up in the Polk Street district. He graduated from Galileo High School in 1950 and after high school went on to work as a butcher in San Francisco. He later enlisted in the Air Force and served a short time in Texas, but he had an early family discharge to help take care of his mother. He then returned to cutting meat and was a butcher for over 30 years. He married Maria in 1955 and they settled in Cupertino where they raised their two girls. Leroy enjoyed spending time with the Moresco’s, his many friends and most of all participating in his grandchildren’s lives and attending their sports and school events. He will be greatly missed and so will his signature dish of spaghetti and meatballs.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 5th and College Streets, Hollister, Saturday November 28, 2009 at noon. There will be a viewing at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito st., Hollister, on Friday November 27, 2009 from noon to 8pm and Rosary at 7pm at In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
