Gilroy resident Leroy T. Haygood, 63, died suddenly in San Jose on Friday, Aug. 1.
Haygood was born in Drumwright, Okla., and came to Gilroy with his family as a baby and spent most of his life there. He attended Gilroy schools. Haygood was a construction worker and enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by son Larry Haygood, sister Gracie Haney and his former wife, Laura McCurdy. He is survived by his wife, Jody Haygood of San Jose; children Darryl Haygood and Deanna Haygood, both of Morgan Hill, Alan Haygood of Gilroy and Billy Haygood and Katie Haygood, both of San Jose; brothers and sisters Albert Haygood and Leon Haygood, both of Gilroy, Tommy Haygood of Tracey, Calif., Wanda Parks of Patterson, Calif., and Kathy Ledford of Gustine; grandchildren Christopher Haygood, Laura Rose Ramos and Ashley Haygood, all of Morgan Hill, and Aaron Haygood of Gilroy.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park in Gilroy.
