Dear Editor

I hope the people in the U.S. and especially in Calif. are paying attention to what the voters have been doing in many of the states through out the country when their primary elections were held they sent the message, we need a change.

In Calif. the primary election is long-gone, but we still have November to express our feelings. We are lucky in Calif., our Representatives can only serve two terms, so the lobbyists don’t have a chance to get a stronghold. Too bad we don’t have a like law at National level and County level, when elected officials at all levels stay too long they seem to lack the ability to think for themselves, the lobbyists get them in line. It’s all a political game.

I hope the voters in San Benito County clean house, get new blood at county, state and national level. It doesn’t seem right, that the good have to suffer with the bad but that’s life,

Education has been in the news, our schools are another problem. Tests for students, tests for teachers are tests the answer? What about class size, my son was in a class of 50 in the first grade and he received a good education. I wonder if we have persons that were never meant to be teachers, it takes a very devoted individual. With the problems that exist. Mom and dad aren’t doing their job, children don’t know the meaning of respect or basic manners. The teacher shouldn’t have to spend class time to teach what should have been done by the parents. I know in many cases both parents work but they still have the duty to cover the basic things, leave the teachers time to book knowledge, “education.” That would be easier if the parents had done their job. If parents could visit the classroom as a little mouse in the corner and see and hear how their child behaves at school they might be shocked or they may just blame the teacher. We all know getting a good education is very important for every child, so let’s all work together, to get these problems solved. It takes more than money.
