Excellent Religion Articles
Excellent Religion Articles
Editor,
I am writing in appreciation of the three feature articles by Katie Niekerk recently published on three of the local religious communities. As a member of the Baha’i Faith I found the articles to be factual, helpful and unbiased, qualities not always present on the topic of religions. A minor correction regarding the information on the Baha’is in Hollister; the monthly public devotional meeting is held on the second Sunday of each month at the YMCA building on Fifth Street from 2–3pm. A local contact number is 636-6761. Again, thank you for the enlightening journalism.

Noteworthy Comment Missed
Editor,
I would like to commend reporter Anthony Ha for his story about the Farm Bureau candidate forum. He did a good job distilling a lot of information into the main talking points I presented. I would like to offer a clarification, please, to the point he made about my idea for economic enterprise zones that would preplan for service stations on Highways 156 and 101, where none currently exist. We would reap gas tax revenues from the tens of thousands of cars and trucks that pass through our county daily on their way somewhere else, he reported. I also said: “But they must be in carefully selected locations to preserve the scenic nature of those highways.” I think the second half of my thought is equally as important to readers.

Support Rally Committee
Editor,
As the new Hollister Motor Cycle Rally Committee chairperson I was not pleased to see “City Files Suit Against Rally Committee” on the front page of the Free Lance. Since it is HIRC that still owes the city $250,000, HIRC should have been in the headliner, not “Rally Committee.” Our committee is made up of a diversified group of people; business owners, nonprofit organization leaders, lawyers, CPAs, event organizers and motorcycle enthusiasts just to mention a few. The committee was organized by our own Mayor Scattini who wants to make sure that our heritage as The Birthplace of the American Biker be capitalized on. We cannot afford to miss out on the opportunity to bring over 100,000 people to our fine city year after year. The Hollister Rally Committee intends on working as a team with the city, law enforcement and a professional promoter to have a profitable, fun and well organized event next year and for years to come.
