Right Choice for Dist. 4 Supervisor
Right Choice for Dist. 4 Supervisor
Editor,
After listening to both District 4 candidates at the Ridgemark Forum Thursday evening, Sept. 21, I am convinced more than ever that Tracie L. Cone has the enthusiasm and, more importantly, the right ideas to get our community moving forward again.
The incumbent wasn’t able to say much of what he has done in the last four years, except lately with a parks commission.
Tracie Cone had ideas for what she called “enterprise zones” that speed up the planning process in areas that the county pre-designates, with clear, written policy, for certain industry, such as wineries in the Cienega Valley and along Airline Highway.
Most important, when Mr. Monaco said he would consider raising the sales tax to earn more money for the county, Ms. Cone had ideas for increasing revenues instead. Her best ideas were to create “enterprise zones” along some sections of Highways 101, 156 and 152 to allow for gas stations, which we don’t have now. She said the increase in gas tax revenues we get from travelers passing through town could help fix our roads! She also said that our 8 percent hotel occupancy tax rate is much lower than what other counties collect.
We need to turn our economy around. I learned that Ms. Cone built a multi-million dollar business in this county. We need to put a successful businesswoman on the Board of Supervisors. I’m voting for Tracie Cone.
