Editor,

We are so glad to see the students at San Justo Middle School picking up a fun card game. San Juan Bautista Parlor No.179 Native Daughters of the Golden West has continuously hosted Pedro card players for more than 40 years in our Adobe Home located at 203 Fourth St. in San Juan Bautista on the Second Friday each month. Doors open at 6:30pm, playing starts at 7pm. The door fee is $4 each, optional raffle tickets are $1 and optional “High Score Kitty” are 10 cents each.

The Native Daughters provide water, decaf coffee, tea and sandwiches. Prizes are given to high score players as well as the three door prizes and three raffle prizes. While we have quite a lively group that comes from Morgan Hill, Watsonville, Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista, there has been an increase of students attending with their parents. Our long-time participants enjoy the younger crowd and are happy to see the card game continue to flourish.
