Lillie Harietta Anderson Marcheski passed away in Hollister. She was born in Blue Earth, MN to Gustave and Sara Anderson and received her nursing degree from the University of Minneapolis and later became a certified nurse anethesist. She and her twin sister, Lilla, joined the Red Cross at the start of WWII and then joined the army and served with the 166 Evac. Hospital Unit in New Guinea. Later, she joined the Air Force and retired as a Major. She then worked at the VA Hospital in Fresno as chief anethesist until she retired in 1975. She married her husband, Jack Marcheski, in December of 1975 and pursued her interest in photography. She was a member of The Photographic Society of America, Hollister Camera Club and Central Coast Counties Camera Club. She was a four star exhibitor in both nature and pictorial slides in the Photographic Society of America competition. She enjoyed traveling on photo trips with Jack and also to Jack’s antique auto and classic car club meets.
She did a photo titled “Rainbow Over Zion” and received awards from the Photographic Society of America in Nature Division, Best Natural Forces 1982 Tulsa Magic Empire and in 1983, the International Exhibit Nature Division Best Landscape Award. She also was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and used her photo skills for church activities.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Marcheski of Hollister, her nieces and nephews, Marguerite Johnson of Iowa, Vernon Robinson of MN, Sally Robinson of MN, Karen Rickleuf of MN, David Anderson of MN, Janice Meyers of MN, Ginger Hirt of NM, Lawrence Anderson, Roger Anderson, Robert Anderson and Harold Mcfarlane and Elizabeth Mooberry, her sister-in-law, Marie Anderson and she is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Guy Anderson, Margaret Robinson, Gladys Subers, Ole Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Clifford Anderson, Lilla Mcfarlane (her twin) and Rose Warren.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollister. Private cremation will be followed by private inurnment.
