Born July 1, 1939, beloved wife of Kerrick C. Securda, was preceded in death by him August 2008, and was the daughter of Dorothy & John E. Harvey, Dixon, IL., also deceased. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Joan Stafford, Corinne McCoy, Sandra Harvey, Diane Gildemeister, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Linda will be fondly remembered for her convivial personality, and wide range of interests.

Linda was born with a thirst for knowledge and graduated from Dixon High School (1957), Illinois State University, Normal, IL. with a B.S. in Elementary Education, followed by M.S. in Counseling from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, IL. Throughout her life she took classes in decorating and the arts. She passed on her love for learning to hundreds of students as an Elementary teacher and Counselor, as well as a volunteer for Girl Scouting, classes and recreational activities for children with special needs. She was awarded “Outstanding Young Educator” in 1966 in Caribou, ME. Prior to that she taught in Mt Prospect, IL, Colorado, and later in Virginia, So. Africa and CA. She transitioned her teaching skill into high tech, working in various administrative positions at different companies always impressing employers with her positive attitude, high energy and professionalism.

She was an avid rose gardener and loved the climates of Hawaii and California where she lived in recent years. In addition she loved decorating for holidays, painting, decoupage and personalized cards, as well as craft projects that she created with her friends and family. In addition to her hobbies and volunteer projects, Linda had much affection for her beloved Siamese cats.

Stricken with an especially virulent form of uterine cancer, Linda bravely faced treatment and surgery. Donations may be made in memory of Linda Harvey Securda to the Lurie Cancer Center for Uterine Cancer Research at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Office of Medical Development, 750 N Lake Shore Dr , 9th Floor, Chicago, IL, 60611. or to the Dixon Public School District Foundation Endowment Fund, 1335 Franklin Grove Rd, Dixon, Illinois 61021 in memory of Linda Harvey Securda. Be sure to put in memory of Linda Harvey Securda on either fund you donate to at this time.
