HOLLISTER

A Hollister man was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and drug possession Wednesday night after a police pursuit in Salinas.

A press release from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office indicated that Daniel Patrick Tanner, age 26, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday after the short chase on Constitution Boulevard in Salinas.

Deputies spotted Tanner driving a “severely damaged” Toyota in the Natividad Medical Center parking lot, and he fled in the automobile from sheriff’s deputies after they attempted to pull him over, according to the statement.

Before making it out of the parking lot, Tanner struck another vehicle, then lost control of the Toyota and struck a traffic light pole at the intersection of Constitution Boulevard and Beacon Hill Drive, according to the report.

At that point, Tanner fled the vehicle but was captured a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, along with suspicion of auto theft. A records check showed that the Toyota had been stolen in Gilroy.

Tanner was booked into Monterey County Jail.
