Hollister – A Hollister resident was arrested Wednesday for rape and attempted murder after allegedly imprisoning a woman he has a relationship with in their home for three days and repeatedly raping and assaulting her, according to police.

Santiago Gonzalez Fajardo, 21, was arrested for rape by force, attempted murder, domestic violence, false imprisonment, terrorizistic threats and oral copulation, all felonies, at his residence on McCray Street Wednesday evening, said police spokesman George Ramirez.

Police received a call from the 21-year-old victim, who lives with Fajardo, from Albertson’s around 5:15pm, Ramirez said.

For unknown reasons Fajardo and the victim drove to Albertson’s and she was able to escape, flag someone down and contact police, Ramirez said.

The victim then led police to the residence where Fajardo was contacted and arrested, he said.

The assault allegedly stemmed from an argument Fajardo and the victim had, Ramirez said. Fajardo allegedly began hitting the victim and then wouldn’t let her leave the house, he said. Throughout the three days, Fajardo allegedly raped her, forced her to perform oral sex on him and punched her in her mid and upper torso, Ramirez said.

Police arrested Fajardo for attempted murder because he also allegedly poked her with a kitchen knife and choked her several times, he said.

The victim tried to leave the house once, but Fajardo pulled her back in, and Ramirez said she did not try to call police from the home.

The victim was taken to a San Jose-area hospital where a sexual assault test was performed, he said.

Fajardo was booked into the San Benito County Jail in lieu of $700,000 for the arrest charges and for a domestic battery warrant, according to jail personnel.
