Campbell – A 19-year-old Hollister resident was stabbed Friday night after an altercation outside of a bar in the quiet bedroom community of Campbell.

Jeremy Knoch was stabbed six to eight times at about 11:20pm Friday in the 1900 block of South Bascom Avenue in Campbell near a Taco Bravo restaurant, the Campbell Police Department reported. Knoch’s injuries were not considered life threatening and he was in stable condition Monday, police reported.

A 19-year-old San Jose resident was arrested in connection with the stabbing on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, police said. The man who was arrested suffered bruises on his face, authorities reported.

The stabbing was the result of a drunken altercation between two groups of men and women, Campbell police officer Phil Tejero said.

“Words were exchanged, and then it started,” Tejero said.

Authorities do not believe the stabbing was gang related.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is encouraged to call Campbell police Sgt. Charley Adams at 408-866-2184.
