A Hollister resident responsible for sending another woman to the hospital with major injuries after a head-on collision at Highway 156 and Lucy Brown Avenue two weeks ago, was booked into the San Benito County Jail Monday and released by Tuesday afternoon.

Diana Lynn Jones, 46, who police said admitted to using heroin before and while driving, was booked with felony driving under the influence, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jones collided with Fresno resident Mary Ann Vuicich, 42, who underwent surgery at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital but is still in the hospital with massive head and skull trauma and facial fractures, said California Highway Patrol Officer Terry Mayes.

Jones suffered a broken leg after she allowed her Windstar van to drift into Vuicich’s lane around 8:30am, colliding with Vuicich’s Chevy Camaro on Wednesday, Aug. 4, according to the CHP.

CHP officers found a fresh injection site on Jones’ arm, a bag of methamphetamine in her purse and a syringe, Mayes said.
