On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, Rain Copeland knowing she was with god, passed away peacefully at Sonora Regional Medical Center in Sonora, CA at the age of 75 after battling fibrosis of the lungs. She was an angel on earth and now resides with them in heaven and our hearts.

Rain was born in Salinas, CA in 1934 and raised in Holtville, CA where she married her high school sweetheart Herbert. They moved to Hollister in 1961 where they lived for 30 years raising a family of 4. Rain was a housewife, mother, bookkeeper, den mother for the local Boy Scouts, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Baptist Church. After Herb’s retirement from the Hollister cannery, they moved to Lake McClure where she fulfilled her dream of writing a novel (Deeds of Darkness) and becoming published author. She was in the process of writing her 2nd novel.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Herbert, Jamestown, CA, sister Joyce (Dan) Munson of Fort Wayne, IN, children Dennis (Sylvia) Copeland of Acworth, GA, Patrick (Heidi) Copeland of San Juan Bautista,CA, Ron Copeland and Raina (Fred) Valdez, both from Carson City,NV. She had 5 grandchildren (Christopher, Kyle, Crystal, Dennis Jr., Carmen) and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Rain’s wishes, our family will be having a Celebration of Life and Remembrance gathering in May. Spring was her favorite time of year, when flowers are in full bloom and the hills are green.
