At age 94, Louise passed away peacefully at home of daughter Mary Ann Ruiz of Santa Clara, where she has lived for 8 years, since death of husband Erwin in 2001. She is also the mother of son Jim (Marlene) and grandmother to Amy, Katie and Matt (Dana), and is survived by more than 30 nieces and nephews.

Formerly a resident of Gilroy since 1962, Louise Miller began her life in Worthington, IA as a farm girl. Growing up in Dyersville, IA, Louise was admired by all as a hardworking, generous, lovable woman. Being married to a serviceman resulted in many moves around the country, where she immediately became involved in various local volunteer ctivities.

She served as den mother to scouts and ran a children’s nursery in Alaska, planned and worked in fund raiser events for her parishes in Pennsylvania and Texas. She especially enjoyed working with the seniors in Gilroy and operating the C.L.A.S. Religious Store at St. Mary’s Church, which she helped to found in 1966. Louise was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Vigil Thursday, July 2, 2009 7:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M.

Funeral Mass Friday, July 3, 2009 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church. Private Burial at San Joaquin National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Ladies, 568 La Sierra Way, Gilroy, CA 95020.
