Former Hollister resident Lucia Villegas Moreno died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 in Orange, Calif. She was 36.

The fine artist and art instructor had spent the last seven years teaching and exhibiting her art work throughout the country, including the Washington, D.C. area, Texas and California. Her works are enjoyed in international collections.

She is a 1986 graduate of San Benito High School. Lucia attended San Jose State University and graduated with a BFA and MFA in drawing and painting.

Inventive and a visionary, she taught unique classes and touched the lives of all she met.

She is survived by her husband Miguel; daughter Chiara; parents Mr. and Mrs. Ines Villegas; brothers, sisters and numerous extended family members.

Lucia will be remembered as a devoted, loving and caring wife and mother, as well as for her spirit, wit and humor. She will be missed by those who were fortunate to have known her.

A viewing will be held from noon to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at Oakhill Cemetery and Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave. in San Jose.

A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at St. Patricks Catholic Church, on the corner of Eighth and Santa Clara in San Jose. Burial will follow the Mass at Oakhill Cemetery.
