M. Marie Rey passed away in Hollister at the age of 84. She was born in Hollister at the old Hazel Hawkins Hospital. She grew up in the Panoche area of San Benito County and attended Panoche School, San Benito High School, San Benito Jr. College and was a graduate of what is now San Jose State University. She taught in local elementary schools, was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Native Daughters of the Golden West and was a past president, the VFW Auxiliary and Bolado Park Golf Course Women’s Club. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rey who died in 1987.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, David and Dianne Rey of Lafayette and Daniel and Pam Rey of Discovery Bay, her sisters, Margaret Strohn of Hollister, Lillian Corotto of Hollister and Georgia Taglio of Loomis, her grandchildren, Alissa Rey, Tyler Rey, Christine Bayless and Brent Bouma and is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rev. Rudy Ruiz of Sacred Heart Church will officiate.

Friends are invited to attend.

Cremation will be followed by private family inurnment at Calvary Cemetery.
