Why would a tiny, agricultural, impoverized mouse like SBC want to dance with a woolly mammoth? Got any better jokes? What a crock.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology study of all the nation’s transit agencies found that VTA is the worst run in the entire USA. The Santa Clara County Grand Jury returned an indictment in June of last year against VTA’s leadership for fatal governance flaws, gross mismanagement and felony fiscal abuse of taxpayers. VTA’s annual operating loss (which excludes capital and fixed costs) exceeds $220 million and is rising. VTA leadership, together with SVLG ultra radical socialists, are urging 1) repeal of Prop. 13 protections, which they’ve re-introduced into the Legislature over and over again for the past decade, 2) increasing tax and fee burdens on taxpayers, killing off more small businesses every year, and 3) VTA’s been using eminent domain to oust long-time small businesses from former SP-served sites.
You cite a founder of their bankrupt system, a Rod Diridon clone, implying that SBC should heed her socialistic advice. Next you’ll be proclaiming that Amtrak and Caltrain are a “success,” and seconding Congressman Sam Farr’s plan to “nationalize the railroads as part of homeland security.”
Your sophomoric school bus contract and fuel retailer price-fixing allegations were a joke. This editorial belongs with the comics. We defeated the USSR, so why adopt the Karl Marx philosophy of the Soviets? Caveat Viator!
