Maheu was a big part of last year’s Central Coast Section softball runner-up team for the Balers.
“Jenny is a speedster who will compete for playing time right away,” Rappl said. “She has a knack for getting on base and she has outstanding defensive range.”
Maheu has a 3.9 grade point average. She plans to major in psychology and athletic training at Canisius.
The Golden Griffins are coming off a 15-31 season, and return eight starters from last year’s team.
The softball program will open its 25th intercollegiate season Feb. 27-29, in the Charleston Southern Invitational.
Katie Miranto of New York also signed a letter of intent with the Griffins.
