Manuela Garza, a former resident of Hollister died June 3 in McAllen Texas. She was 83.

A native of Mexico, Mrs. Garza had been a resident of Hollister for the past 50 years and was an active member of St. Benedict and Sacred Heart churches.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Irma and Joe Paul Gonzalez of Hollister, Frances and Fidel Olivarez of Tucson, Ariz., and Janie Pastor of Hollister; son Roel Garza of Gilroy; sons and daughters-in-law Reuben and Sandy Garza of San Juan Bautista, Rene and Marylou Garza of Bakersfield and Ramon and Esther Chapa of Mission, Texas; brothers Jose Enrique Chapa of McAllen, Texas and Juan Noe Chapa of Palmview, Texas; sister Cruzita Guerrero of Rio Bravo, Tam., Mexico; grandchildren Briana, Jennifer, Talia and Joseph Gonzalez of Hollister as well as 14 other grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass is pending at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hollister.

Funeral services were held June 5 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas. Burial was at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen, Texas.

Donations may be made to Sacred Heart-St. Benedicts Church at 680 College St., Hollister or Jovenes de Antano at P.O. Box 860, Hollister. A memorial mass is pending at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister.
