Maria De La Cruz Romo, 57, passed away April 3, 2011. She is survived by her son Bernardo (Benito) De La Cruz Romo and his wife Alicia Marmon of New York, grandson Riley Chase Andres Romo, her father Guadalupe De La Cruz and four brothers, Juan, Guadalupe, Jr., Luis, and Roel.

Maria worked for the past 20 years at San Jose State as an educator and administrator. She was a lifelong activist in the Latino Civil Rights Movement, and for the United Farm Workers, and the Chicano and Latino Youth Leadership Conference.

A Memorial Mass will be held 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 13th, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilroy, CA.
