Maria Haro, age 97 years, passed away surrounded by her family.

She was born in Corralitos, Chihuahua, Mexico, and in 1944, moved to the United States with her husband, Angel, and their five chidren. The family settled in Hollister, where she worked for Tri Valley Foods. After she retired she joined the Foster Grandparent Program. She loved working with the children and continued to do so for 20 years. Maria loved to sew, crochet, make crafts and work in her beautiful garden. Every time someone would come to visit, they would always leave with something special that she had made. She touched many lives and will always be remembered for her giving and loving spirit.

Her husband, Angel, and her son, Ruben, preceded Maria in death. She is survived by her sister, Soila Parra, her children and their spouses, Rene and Socorro Haro, Robert and Mary Ellen Haro, Ranulfo and Pat Haro, Elvia and Robert Rose, daughter-in-law Erlinda Carrillo, 17 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects on Thurs., Oct. 5th, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Mass will be on Fri., Oct. 6th ,at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Family and friends can gather at the funeral home at 9:30 AM for a procession to the Church, 5th and College Streets, Hollister. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations are preferred to Sacred Heart Parish School.
