April 13 at Gilroy Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was 78
years old.
Marjorie Holthouse died peacefully surrounded by her children on April 13 at Gilroy Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was 78 years old.
Margie was born and raised in Hollister. She married Bob Holthouse on Oct. 27, 1946. Bob and Margie lived in Dos Palos, Weiser, Idaho and Huntington Beach from 1958 to 1970 when the family moved back “home” to Hollister.
Margie was extremely active in our community. She was a member of Business of San Benito County, Girl Scouts of America, past president of Foresters of America and YLI. She received numerous awards for her years of dedicated volunteerism and was most proud of being named Kiwanian of the Year in 1989. The last 12 years of her working life consisted of providing devoted home care for many elderly women in Hollister.
Margie was the loving mother of Sandra Bryce of Whitehorse-Yukon, Canada, Deborah Cope and husband Jeff of Huntington Beach, Eric Holthouse and wife Sue of Sonoma and Scott Holthouse and wife jan of Hollister. She was the proud “Granny” of 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial and prayer services will be held on Friday, April 22 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 7290 Airline Hwy. Tres Pinos. Mass will begin at 11am with lunch following at Immaculate Conception Church Hall from noon to 3pm.
In the spirit of Mrs. Holthouse’s loving and giving ways, and the exceptional care she was given, the family is asking that donations be made to Gilroy Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St. Hollister, CA 95023.
Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
