Hollister resident
Martina Martinez died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at her home in Hollister after a lengthy illness. She was 53.

Mrs. Martinez was born in Elsa, Texas and had lived in Hollister for 10 years. She had worked for the Los Angeles School District as a family representative and was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed cooking for her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Martinez of Hollister; her children, Jose F. Martinez and his wife, Teresa, Juan Martinez and his wife, Elizabeth, Melisa Lucatero and her husband, Jose, Melinda Martinez, Joel Martinez and Marisol Martinez, all of Hollister, and Marissa DeAlba and her husband, Noel, of Salinas; her mother, Dora Villalon of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; her brothers and sister, Jose, Hector, Oscar, Rojelio and Gilbert Villalon, all of Ohio, and Josephine Pena of Ft. Wayne; her half-sister, Phelipa Ortiz and her husband, Francisco, of San Jose; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Flor Antonia Martinez in 2001; her father, Jose Villalon; and her brother, Ricardo Villalon.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 20 after 9 a.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
