Mary Carmen Baptiste of San Juan Bautista died Tuesday at her home. She was 91.

A native of San Benito County, Mrs. Baptiste was born on her ranch she lived on her entire life, and attended Olympia Grammar School. She was a home-maker and co-partner with her husband, growing apples, pears and prunes. She also was a member of Mission San Juan Bautista and the U.P.P.E.C.

Mrs. Baptiste is survived by her son Bob Baptiste of San Juan; grandson Aaron Baptiste of San Jose and Olga Ramos, her long-time caregiver and friend.

She was preceded in death her husband Carl F. Baptiste; brothers Manuel Jr., William, Lawrence and Clarence Freitas and sister Lena Freitas.

Visitation will be held from noon Sunday and Monday morning until services begin at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Recitation will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday and funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday followed by a 1 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Contributions are preferred to the Visiting Nurses Association in SBC.
