Mary passed peacefully at her home in Gilroy on Friday July 15th, 2011, with her loving husband, daughters and caregivers by her side, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mary was born in Hammond, IN on December 21,1933, to Victor and Anna Skratsky. She was the youngest of seven children in her family.

She married Ned Deveral Schneider in 1951 and started a family shortly thereafter. After moving to California in 1956, she and her husband Ned raised three daughters together.

Mary was an avid reader, gardener and cook. Most of all Mary was a very devoted Mom and wife. She had an endless amount of love and support for her family. Her words of strength and wisdom were bountiful and boundless. Her strong faith guided and supported many throughout her life. She was “The Rock”.

Mary leaves behind her loving husband Ned of 60 years, and three daughters, Robin (Chuck) Nelson of Gilroy, Heidi (Rick) Cook of Gilroy and Sheila (Scott) Eagle of Carmel Valley. Mary was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Nicole Prentiss, Erik Nelson, Calvin Eagle, Shelby Eagle, Sam Eagle and Brandon Cook, and one great-grandson Noah Prentiss of St. Charles, IL.
