Hollister resident Mathew Z. Narog died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. He was 73.

Mr. Narog was born in Lejeish, Poland, and had lived in Hollister for four years. He had previously lived in Saratoga and Cupertino since 1967. He was retired after a 40-year career in horticulture as an agronomist. He was a member of the Cupertino Rotary Club and a former Scoutmaster in the Cupertino area.

He is survived by his wife, Yvette Narog of Hollister; his children and their spouses, Laura Narog of Hollister, Kim and Leslie Narog of Gilroy, Sherry and Lewis Sapudar Jr. of Cupertino, Blair and Carmen Narog of Mountain View, Darryl Narog of Walnut Creek and Cory Narog of Redwood Shores; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, April 21 from noon to 7 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Saratoga Federated Church, 14370 Saratoga Ave. in Saratoga. Interment and graveside services will follow at Madronia Cemetery, 14754 Oak St. in Saratoga.

Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
