May Snell Damm died May 29th at the age of 94 in her Hollister home. Born in Nevada City, California, she came to Hollister at a young age. May resided in Hollister, except when pursuing her education and career.

She received her early education in Hollister public schools. She was a graduate of Hollister High and San Jose State, and received her master’s degree from Stanford. After teaching for a brief period in Nevada County, May returned to Hollister where she taught in the Hollister School District for many years.

Over the years she enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, traveling, needlework, and painting.

She is survived by her son Bill Damm and his wife Mary, son Jerry Damm and his wife Suzanne, and daughter Judy Caporgno and her husband Joe, all of Hollister. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Bill and Steve Caporgno, Karen Franco, Kristen, John, and Adam Damm, and Kristi Woodall. She also leaves 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Damm was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie, her daughter, Joan Damm, and grandson David Damm.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. Interment at IOOF Cemetery will follow the funeral services. Immediately after, a reception will be held at the home of Bill and Mary Damm, 289 Summerset Drive, Hollister.
