Melvin (Chuckie)Silva passed away as a result of an accident in San Jose, CA at the age of 64. Despite his disability which confined him to a wheelchair from an auto accident in 1967, he lived life to the fullest. He died from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Nov. 26th. He did not let his disability stop him from being independent, volunteering at the VA Hospital, contributing his time as a committee member for disabled veterans, participating in wheelchair sports (winning many medals and awards), and spending time with family and friends. He served his country for three years in the US Army, stationed in Germany, France and Turkey.

He is survived by his sisters, Geraldine Rawhoof of Los Banos, Mary Helen Donley of Modesto and brother, Ronald Silva of Wyoming and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by is parents, Ivan and Josephine Silva and brother, Robert Silva. Chuckie’s wittiness, dry sense of humor and big heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military rites offered by VFW Post 9242. Condolences to www.blackcoopersander.com
