Michael J. Rovella passed away on Monday July 6th, 2009, at the age of 83. He was a life long resident of Hollister.
Mike served in the United States Army during WWII. He fought in the Philippines as a Platoon Sergeant with the 41st Infantry Division.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a hardworking devoted family man who took enormous pride in his well kept orchards. He looked forward to the Friday night Baler football games and ushering every Sunday at Sacred Heart Church.
Member of the Knights of Columbus and the Italian Catholic Federation.
He is preceded in death by his wife Doris Rovella, brother Anthony Rovella and great-grandson Angel Cottrell.
Mike is survived by his children Steve Rovella (Lisa), Donald Rovella (Billie), Susan Higgins (Kevin), and Jeffrey Rovella. Grandchildren Ryan Higgins, April Higgins Betsch (Mike), Shawna Higgins Cottrell, Candice Rovella Biddle (James), Martin and Darien Rovella as well as great-grandchildren Brianna, Jordyn, Jacob, Kevin and Cody Betsch. Leah Cottrell and Caleb and Briley Biddle. Also survived by sister-in-law Dolores Rovella and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday July 9th, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister.
A memorial Mass will be offered this Friday, July 10th, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Contributions are preferred to Sacred Heart School or HOPE Rehabilitation.
