Our beloved wife and mother, Mila Jane Farotte Sanchez, passed into the next life February 12, 2007, at age 84, in her cherished home, surrounded by her faithful husband, Sig, and her loving children.

Jane was born October 30, 1922 in Santa Barbara, California to Milo Farotte and Lucille Manser Farotte Fabbri, but lived most of her life in Gilroy, where she attended Gilroy High School. Jane studied at the Cosmetology School in San Jose and worked as a beautician, but her real calling in life was as a supportive wife and devoted mother.

An avid volunteer for over fifty years, Jane taught catechism at St. Mary’s and served as president of the Mother’s Club. She belonged to the Wheeler Hospital Auxiliary, Children’s Home Society, Catholic Ladies Aide Society, and the Gilroy Assistance League. She taught reading at the local library and volunteered at the well-baby clinic for indigent mothers. She did many quiet acts of charity.

Jane is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sig Sanchez, her five children, Donna of San Jose, David [Maria] of North Salt Lake, Utah, Chris [Beverly] of Hotchkiss, Colorado, Nick of Los Banos, and Jon [Michelle] of Gilroy; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua [Tiffany] and Gus [Brooke] Sanchez, both of Centerville, Utah, Mila [David} Newcomb of Albany, Oregon, Anna [Joel] Watson of Salt Lake City, Donovan and Joseph Sanchez, of Suisun, Curt Morgan of Hotchkiss, Colorado, Sarah Sanchez of Hollister, Ashley and Luke Sanchez of Los Banos, Nycole, Jaynie and J.D. Sanchez, all of Gilroy; her two great-grandchildren, June Newcomb and Gabriel Sanchez; her brother, Gordon Farotte of Gilroy; her sister, Gloria Carlyle of Reno, Nevada; and many cherishedsisters and brothers in law, and nieces and nephews. She will be missed by them all.

Family and friends are invited to attend services, beginning with a Visitation from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy, Vigil Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gilroy at 7:00 P.M., both on February 15, 2007. Funeral Mass will be held on February 16, 2007 at 10:00 A.M at St. Mary’s Church.

Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Gilroy. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or charity of your choice.
