Mildred (Babe) Chesnut was born in Spokane, Washington, and passed away at her home in Hollister at the age of 93. Babe moved to San Benito County in 1942. She married Richard (Dick) Chesnut in 1934. They were married for forty-seven years.
Babe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hollister, Companion for Life, Golden Years, Grandmothers Club, Hollister Trailer Club, Telephone Pioneers, TOPS and the Tres Pinos Pedro Card Party.
Babe was last employed by Sugar Plum farms as a hostess before retiring. She was previously employed by the Hollister School district and Leatherback. Babe owned a catering business with her husband in the fifties.
Babe was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49er Fan. She enjoyed traveling with her husband for many years and exploring many different areas around the country.
Babe is survived by her children; son, Richard H. Chesnut of San Jose, daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Larry Webb of Tres Pinos, and son and daughter-in-law Harry and Cathy Chesnut of Lemoore, CA., grandsons; Robert Calleri and wife Susan of Tres Pinos, Richard Chesnut and wife Sherry of Canyon Country, CA, and William Calleri and wife Yvonne of Nevada, granddaughters; Diane Stone and husband Jack of Hollister, Sharlette and husband David Moreno of Idaho and Debbie O’Connell and husband Frank of Hollister, great-grandsons, Kenneth and Daniel Calleri of Tres Pinos, Spencer Stone of Hollister, Tyler O’Connell of Hollister, Dawson Moreno of Idaho and Jonathan Calleri of Nevada,
great-grandaughters; Jessica Chesnut of Washington State, Shelby Stone of Hollister, Kylie O’Connell of Hollister and Sarah Moreno of Idaho. Babe was preceded in death by husband, Richard E. (Dick) Chesnut and son-in-law John W. Calleri.
A memorial service will be offered Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 Cienega Rd., Hollister.
Contributions are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church.
