Mildred was born on May 22, 1938, to Richard and Hilda Barth in Ogden, UT. She passed away on June 6, 2013, with her husband David at her side after a six month battle with cancer.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 54 years, David. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in September 1958. She is also survived by her four sons, Michael (Donna), Matthew (Michelle), Daniel (Aleisha), and Benjamin (Laura), 20 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph and is survived by her brothers Richard and Delmar and her sister Ingrid.

Mildred and David met at a church Dance when she was 15 and he was 17. They dated on and off for several years, but they fell in love through their letters while he was on his LDS church mission. They were married only three months after David was released from his mission. David started school two weeks later a! s a freshman, and Mildred worked for four years until he graduated. Then David worked full time and Mildred became a homemaker. David promised her that she would never have to work outside the home again. She preferred to spend all her time raising children.

Mildred was an excellent mother and taught her sons how to be good fathers and raise good families. Her influence will be felt for generations among her descendants. She loved to talk with her children and grandchildren, participate in activities with them and teach them by word and example.

Mildred was a violinist. A fond remembrance of her children from when they were young was hearing her practice after they had gone to bed. She played in many musical groups starting from the time she was a teenager. These included being a member for many years the community orchestra at DeAnza College and the community orchestra at Gavilan Hills College. She also taught young students violin and piano, both as a private teacher and by volunteering at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino.

When no funds were available for an orchestra at Monta Vista, she created and taught the String Orchestra five days a week for five years. She was given a small salary which barely covered buying music and supplies.

Mildred was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many church callings, and was an example of Christ like service to all she came in contact with. She never declined a call for church service.

Most of her callings were music related. She was the choir director in the Cupertino Ward and Gavilan Hills ward. For a period in Cupertino, she was both Stake and Ward Music chairman. She also directed the music in Sacrament Meeting and Relief Society. She liked serving as Young Women’s president and Relief Society President in the Cupertino ward.
