Mildred Holloway Wharton LaRue was born September 23, 1911 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph E. Holloway and Minella W. Holloway. She passed away August 10, 2007 in Morgan Hill, CA at the age of 95. Mrs. LaRue resided in Saratoga, for 33 years, the Villages in San Jose for 27 years, and Morgan Hill for the last two years of her life.

Mildred Wharton LaRue is survived by Louise Wharton of Cupertino (wife of the late Christopher H. Wharton); Janie Knopf (Roger) of Morgan Hill; Mary Helene Tietz (Kenneth) of Berkeley; Mike Wharton(Lea)of San Mateo; and Joe Wharton (Kathy) of Lafayette. She was “Nana” to fifteen grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren: Chris & Louise’s children, Mark (Michele) Wharton (Molly & Megan), Stacey (Bruce) Holmes (Aidan), Valerie (Mark) Constant (Cole & Tatum); Janie’s children, David (Gina) Knopf (Alexandra, Christopher, Gianna & Dominic); Carrie (Chris) Bernhoft (Olin); Mary Helene’s children, Cynthia (Tom) Padden (Kenny & Katy), Ashley (Josh) Holm (Gunnar), Emily (Brian) Minow (Carly); Mike’s children, Travis and Josh Wharton, step-daughters Misti Smith and Ginny Perez; Joe’s children, Tim (Amy) Wharton (Jacob, Robbie, Audrey & Allison), Steve and Andrew Wharton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins on the East Coast and her very special caregiver, Lydia Rosaldo.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husbands James M. Wharton and Daniel W. LaRue 3d, her son Christopher H. Wharton, her sisters, Emily & Katherine Holloway and Wilhelmina Hartman.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 19th, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at the Saratoga Federated Church, 20390 Park Place, Saratoga, 95070, with a reception to follow at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place, Saratoga, 95070. Interment at Madronia Cemetery, Saratoga will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saratoga Foothill Historic Landmark Foundation, P.O.
