For most of the season, they have struggled. But thanks to strong performances by each of their three doubles teams, the Gilroy High girl’s tennis team picked up a 5-2 win this week against San Benito High.

“We edged past them,” said Gilroy Tennis Coach Chris Yoder. “I was happy to pick up the win.”

While Gilroy struggled somewhat in singles play, the Mustangs swept all three doubles matches to lock up the Tri-County League match.

“I don’t know what it is,” said Yoder. “We just seem to be coming together and playing better in recent weeks.”

On the other hand, Hollister was without its top player, Phoebe Bochofer. As a result, the Hollister coaching staff was forced to make adjustments.
