The Southside School District was closed Friday morning in response to mudslides on the road leading into the school.

The county emergency medical services specialist accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys between 2002 and 2005 was a local Boy Scouts troop leader until Friday and recently advised teenage members of the Career Explorer Program at the Hollister Fire Department.

The National Weather Service is predicting a chance of rain for every day over the next week, with the exception of Saturday and Sunday when the area might get a weekend break.

Local emergency crews have responded to a couple of crashes, fallen trees and flooding issues in the early hours of Thursday's storm, Police Chief David Westrick said.

The San Benito County Office of Emergency Services is warning residents to prepare for power outages, downed power lines, fallen trees and small stream flash flooding.
