Updated: Police weigh use of body cameras to go with in-car surveillance
While Hollister officials approved in-car cameras for police vehicles Monday, the local police department is testing out the possible use of body cameras as well, the chief confirmed.

Celebration of military and first responders
The San Benito High football team’s home opener on Sept. 12 has special significance—it’s a celebration of the military and first responders. In addition to tributes to the military and first responders before and during the game, interactive booths will be set up around the stadium so people can have a chance to interact with the hometown heroes. Special Haybaler Super Hero capes will be available for purchase ($10) and the first 50 kids who purchase the capes will have a chance to be included in the pregame festivities. The junior varsity game starts at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity pregame shows starts at 7, with kickoff at 7:30.
Services set for former HPD sergeant Burgess
The services for former Hollister police Sgt. Andy Burgess are set for 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Masonic Hall, 380 W. Dunn Ave., in Morgan Hill, according to the Hollister Police Department.
Grant helps students bring home instruments
Students at the Hollister Dual Language Academy will soon be playing flutes, clarinets and trombones purchased with $5,000 in grant funds.
