Man behind anti-Obama display says he’s not racist: ‘I’m trying to get a response’

Blake Lebeck constructed the controversial political display outside his east Morgan Hill home not to offend minorities or promote racism as some passersby have suggested, but to draw attention to the perils the country faces if President Barack Obama wins re-election in the Nov. 6 election.

American kestrel takes flight

Like an autumn leaf gliding on a breeze, a male kestrel gracefully floats over the bare field, waiting for a glimpse of an appetizing field mouse. His chestnut-colored back and tail and silvery-gray wings make him one of the most colorful of the raptors, a beautiful sight against a dreary October sky.

Suspect in Carroll slaying charged with murder, kidnapping

David J. Quiroz, 30, of Hollister was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on charges alleging murder and kidnapping for ransom with bodily harm in the death of Heather Carroll, 25, who was found in his Cerra Vista home by law enforcement authorities on Saturday.
