Baler Summer Nights: The Baler Backers Athletic Organization is holding its annual dinner/dance and auction fundraiser in support of San Benito High School’s Haybaler Athletic Program, Aug. 18, at the San Benito County Fairgrounds/Bolado Park, from 6 p.m. to midnight, with the dinner served between 7 and 8 p.m. Entertainment is being provided by local band favorite Soul Kiss. Tickets for the 21+ event are $50 each and table reservations of eight are also being accepted. Itchy Dogs – Is Food the Problem?
Many dog owners work hard to make their pets comfortable and happy, so it can be frustrating when a dog is constantly itching and distressed. Dr. Adam Patterson, clinical assistant professor and Chief of Dermatology at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences Small Animal Clinic, explained how some perpetually itchy dogs may suffer from food allergies.

Water treatment plant to cost $20M, bump rates
Local officials held a public meeting Thursday to discuss the notice of preparation of an Environmental Impact Report for the West Hills Water Treatment Plant.
Ferguson Road closed through November
The California Department of Transportation closed Ferguson Road in Gilroy on Agu. 13 and it will remain closed through early November. This continuous closure is necessary to install signals, widen shoulders and through lanes near the intersection of Highway 152 and Ferguson Road, according to a Caltrans press release.
Public comment: Clear Creek enthusiasts thank supervisors
During the Aug. 14 San Benito County Board of Supervisors, two members of the public who support the reopening of Clear Creek to off-road vehicles thanked the supervisors for their support of the effort through the years since the park was closed to off-road uses.
