GPD arrests 31 in early morning gang sweep
For the second time in almsot two months, the Gilroy Police Department partnered with county, state and federal law enforcement agencies in a citywide sweep early Thursday morning, this time targeting more than two-dozen known gang members and their associates for "violent and reckless criminal activity," police said.

Sonne’s 10 years are history
Peter Sonne stepped down this week after being president of the San Benito Historical Society for at least 10 years. Sonne, who got involved with the organization in the late 1990s, said he doesn't remember the exact year he took on the leadership position. But even though he is stepping down from the society's board, he will stay on in an advisory role for the next year.
Murder-suicide couple’s dog went missing in Hollister
Friends of Lynn and Chris Shimek, the Gilroy couple who died Nov. 28 in an apparent murder-suicide, are seeking help in recovering one of the Shimek's family pets after it ran away Dec. 1 in Hollister.
