No injuries were reported after a big-rig overturned on Highway 25 in Hollister, closing the road for about four hours Oct. 3, according to authorities.
About 8pm, a 64-year-old Wisconsin woman was driving a 2000 Peterbilt truck towing a trailer northbound on Highway 25, north of Shore Road in unincorporated San Benito County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The roadway at this location is straight and flat, with the northbound and southbound lanes divided by double yellow lines and an eight-foot center median.
For an unknown reason, the truck driver abruptly turned the steering wheel to the left, according to police. This caused the Peterbilt and its trailer to overturn onto its right side.
The truck and trailer came to rest partially blocking the northbound lane and fully blocking the southbound lane of Highway 25.
The highway was closed from State Route 156 to Shore Road for about four hours while authorities cleaned up the accident, police said.
The truck driver was uninjured, according to the CHP. While neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be a factor, the accident is still under investigation.
