Hollister – The Hollister Police Department is investigating a gang-related drive-by shooting that occurred early Friday on C Street.
Police believe Norteño street gang members in a blue sedan shot 10 bullets into a home in the 1100 block of C Street at 2:43am Friday, said Officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department.
There were six people in the house, but no one was injured, Betanio said. The age of the occupants ranged from 8 months old to 44 years old, she said.
A bullet struck within several inches of a sleeping 20-year-old man’s head, police said.
Officers arriving on scene found bullet casings in the intersection of C Street and Monica Court, Capt. Richard Vasquez said.
Emilio Roman, the 17-year-old Hollister resident accused in the killing of 18-year-old Daniel Gallegos, lived in the home more than a year ago, Betanio said.
Authorities believe Roman is a member of the rival Sureño street gang. His family no longer lives there, Betanio said.
The occupants of the home are not believed to be gang members, police said.
The same home was also the target of a drive-by shooting on Dec. 19, 2005.
The shooting is the second drive-by in Hollister since the beginning of the year and seventh in the last 12 months, according to police records.
