Noemi Olvera Rodriguez, mother and devout Christian, born February 19, 1931, died April 26, 2011.

Noemi was a descendant of one of the original settlers of Harlingen (Six Shooter Junction), TX. She was a resident of Hollister, CA since 1963.

Noemi was a successful business owner of a beauty shop in Texas, a strong advocate of education and provided a loving home for numerous foster children in San Benito County. She supported her husband as a Teamster Business Agent in union events including The Central Coast Citizenship Project and distributing food to union activists.

She was known as “Grandma” to all the neighborhood children and as “Nana” to the children of her daughter’s daycare.

Noemi and her husband Jose were fortunate to enjoy traveling to many destinations throughout the world.

She is survived by her brother Gamaliel Olvera (Austin, Texas), and her children Azalia Rodriguez, Arazeli Weimer, Elsa A. Rodriguez, JM Rodriguez, Aseneth Rodriguez-Quaid (Bob Quaid), Filiberto Rodriguez, Aaron Rodriguez, Trine Bergman; grandchildren: Jojo Guerrero, Jenaya Botelho (Michael Botelho), Jordan Rodriguez, Mackenzie Quaid; great-grandchildren: Alina Guerrero, Alyssa Guerrero, Joey Guerrero, Catlin Guerrero, Jaydon Rodriguez and Brooklyn Botelho.

She is also survived by many nephews and nieces in Texas and Illinois and many childhood friends.

Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Jose M. (Chema) Rodriguez, mother Eloisa Gutierrez Olvera, father Jose E. “Pepe” Olvera, sisters, Lydia Tamez, Hortencia “Tencha” Martinez and brother Samuel Olvera.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.
