William H. Alnas

William “Willie” H. Alnas died in his San Juan Bautista home from a lengthy battle with illness Tuesday evening. He was 58 years old.

Born in Gilroy and a life-long resident of San Benito County, he attended San Juan Grammar School and graduated from San Benito High School. He was a decorated war veteran serving in the Army during Vietnam where he received a two Purple Heart medals and a Bronze Star Medal.

He enjoyed motorcycle riding with the Top Hatters Motorcycle Club, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Old San Juan Mission and the San Juan VFW Post.

He spent 36 years as a quality control inspector for Teledyne McCormick Selph in Hollister.

Mr. Alnas is survived by his wife, Patti Alnas, in San Juan Bautista; son Willie Alnas, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Hollister; daughter Erlinda Alnas and son Justin Alnas of San Juan Bautista; granddaughter Ashley Alnas and grandsons Michael and Johnathan Alnas of Hollister; brother John Alnas, Sr. of San Juan Bautista; brother Joe Alnas of Hollister; sister Carmen “Anita” Martinez of Mendota; brother Julian R. Alnas of Salinas; brother Ernest H. Alnas of San Juan Bautista; sister Rosalie Lawton of Castroville; brother Raymond Alnas of San Juan Bautista; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Alnas Sr., and mother, Ramona Alnas; and sister Erlinda Hurtado.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. with the rosary offered Sunday at 7 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home proceeding to Old Mission San Juan Bautista for a funeral Mass commencing at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at the San Juan District Cemetery.

Bessie May Harris

Bessie May Harris died Wednesday morning at 97 in Hollister at her home. Bessie is the wife of the late Howard Harris who died in December of 2002.

Arrangements have been made for cremation at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Raymond Donald Lopez Sr.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning from Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home for Raymond Donald Lopez Sr. who died April 17 in Sonora at the age of 50.

A funeral Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Rudy Ruiz. Cremation followed at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory in Hollister.

The honorary pallbearers were three of his children: Amanda, Justin and Anthony Lopez.

The active pallbearers were: Raymond Lopez Jr., Sean Maroney, Daniel Lopez Sr., George Lopez, Daniel Lopez Jr., Greg Lopez, Richard Aguirre and John Cain.
