Raquel R. Ventura

Raquel R. Ventura died Wednesday evening in Hilmar, Calif. at the age of 58 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Guadalajara, Mexico on September 16, 1945.

She came from Mexico to California at the age of 10. A former resident of San Benito County having lived here for 25 years, Mrs. Ventura moved to Los Banos eight years ago. She had only lived in Hilmar since the first of the year.

She was a member of the Hollister Seventh-day Adventist Church. Raquel was a Bilingual Instructional Aid for Los Banos School District and formerly at San Andreas School here in Hollister. She also worked as a grape inspector for Almaden Vineyards and a tomato inspector for Star Cannery and Tri-Valley Cannery in Los Banos.

She is survived by her husband, Rolando of Hilmar; her children, James Ventura of Los Banos, Frederick Ventura of Hilmar, Irene Parra of Los Banos and Rachel Mendoza of Los Banos. She is the daughter of Jesus and Luisa Vasquez of Merced; sister of Juan Vasquez of Merced, Maria Castaneda of San Juan Bautista, Jose, Fred and Carlos Vasquez all of Hollister, Espie Chavez of San Juan Bautista, Gabriel and Daniel Vasquez both of Merced, Antonia Vasquez of Vacaville, Rosa Cecena of Los Banos and the Late Lucio Vasquez. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial service was held last Saturday in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory in Hollister.

Elise Howe

Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of life to be held on Saturday, August 21 at 11am at the Grace Bible Church 634 Monterey Street, Hollister for Else Howe who passed away in San Jose on August 11,2004 at the age of 70.

A native of Bremerhaven, Germany, Mrs. Howe and her husband, whom she married 42 years ago, have been residents of San Jose for the past 24 years.She was a homemaker all of her adult life. “She was very giving person; a loving wife and excellent mother,” said her family.

She is survived by her husband Franklin D. Howe of San Jose; her children Shirley Breneman (Husband Steve) of Hollister; Patrick Howe (Spouse Lydia) of Hollister; Frank Von Rassler (Spouse Cris) of San Jose; Hilde Gaban (Husband Dave) of Hollister; and David Howe of San Jose. She was very proud of her six grandchildren.

Arrangements have been made for private cremation through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Interment of her remains will be at Wulzdorf Cemetery, Bremerhaven, Germany.
