Paicines
A 31-year-old Paicines man was arrested Saturday night by deputies on suspicion of raping a 16-year-old girl, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The 16-year-old girl told investigators she had been raped by the man twice at a residence in Paicines, the Sheriff’s Office reported. Deputies arrested the man at 11:40pm Saturday in Paicines on suspicion of three counts of rape, all felonies, and battery, a misdemeanor, Sheriff’s Lt. Roy Iler said.
The 31-year-old man has not been charged with a crime.
If convicted on one of the rape counts, the man could face up to eight years in state prison, according to the California Penal Code.
There have been five rapes reported to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office this year. The Hollister Police Department has also received five reports of rapes in 2007.
