– A three car-accident Sunday on Santa Teresa Boulevard and
Fitzgerald Road killed one person and sent two others to the
hospital.
The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. when a 16-year-old male from
San Jose made an unsafe maneuver in a 1998 Mazda pickup while
traveling south on Santa Teresa Boulevard, the California Highway
Patrol said. The juvenile’s name is not being released.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. when a 16-year-old male from San Jose made an unsafe maneuver in a 1998 Mazda pickup while traveling south on Santa Teresa Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol said. The juvenile’s name is not being released.
Shane Weeks, 43, driving a 1997 Chevy Astrovan, unsuccessfully swerved to avoid the collision. The Astrovan flipped over.
The Mazda continued out of control and hit a 1999 Nissan Quest van, driven by Ron Quach, a 35-year-old Gilroy resident.
Hannah Thuc Tsan, 35, of Gilroy, a passenger in the Quest, died at the scene. Quach suffered a broken right arm and elbow. The driver of the Mazda suffered a broken nose and other minor injuries. The two drivers were taken to San Jose Medical Center for treatment.
Weeks, of San Jose, received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He had been drinking and a sobriety test was administered but he was not under the influence, CHP said.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
All parties involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts.
There were 23 crashes total in the Gilroy/Hollister area for Friday through Monday, which is about average for most weekends, CHP said. Most of the crashes involved property damage.
Fatalities around the state have been down, this holiday weekend compared to last year. As of Sunday, the CHP reports that only 15 fatalities have been reported compared to 27 at the same time last year.
