Paul P. Pennanen died Thursday, Oct. 30 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. He was 81.

He was born in Detroit, Mich., and came to Hollister from Aptos in 1986. Prior to his retirement, he was an engineer with Lockheed Missiles and Space.

He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his two sisters Ruth Payton of Tucson, Ariz., and Catherine VanHartsveldt of Bloomfield, Mich., and his caregiver Shirley Place of Hollister.

He was preceded in death by his wife Delphyne Pennanen and brother Marvin Pennanen.

Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory with private burial at sea off the coast of Santa Cruz County.
